The 1896 Barber Dimes were created by Charles E. Barber. Barber`s Dimes were struck between 1892 and 1916. The 1896 Barber Dimes shared their obverse design with the quarters and half dollar coins of the same period, that of Liberty wearing a wreath. The reverse of the coins bore a wreath and a motto, One Dime. The Barber Dimes were replaced in 1916 by Mercury dimes, making the rare 1896 Barber Dimes a prime collector`s coin.
